OUR MISSION: The Foreign Language Department of Conway Public Schools is devoted to the promotion of language learning in our classrooms, schools, and district. We believe that knowledge of another language is invaluable in all aspects of life, particularly in our expanding global society. A student who trains in a second, or even a third, language increases their capacity for analytical thought as well as written and oral communication. They also grow in appreciation of the language usage, culture, civilizations, and the relevance to other disciplines. We strive to create an authentic classroom experience where students can live, learn, and grow within the language environment. Thus student participation is an essential element in beginning to use the language as a tool for communication.

DEPARTMENT GOALS: 1. Develop global citizens by fostering respect and appreciation for other cultures and civilizations and their accompanying traditions. 2. Support effective language skills of listening and reading comprehension as well as written and oral communication. 3. Use the target language from 50-100% of the instructional time, increasing as the course level increases. 4. Gain insight into the foundations of one's own language and culture.
